Do you enjoy working with children or teens? Do you have 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university?  Are you a certified paraprofessional?  Local school districts are struggling with a shortage of substitute teachers. The Substitute Teacher Authorization class provides the training needed to prepare for authorization as a Substitute Teacher.  The course content will include Ethics, Classroom Management, Diversity, and Instructional Strategies. Upon completion of the course and the submission of Educational Examiners requirements, an individual is eligible to be authorized to substitute in a K-12 institution. Prerequisites: Holds an Associate Degree or 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited institution or completed an approved Paraeducator certification program and holds a Paraeducator certificate. A Certified Paraeduactor who holds the Substitute Authorization is able to substitute in the special education classroom they are assigned to, and may be able to serve in other settings if the district supports this expanded authority and requests permission from the Board of Educational Examiners.
