Manual Transmission CDL Course
Train to meet Department of Transportation entry-level driver requirements and qualify for your CDL Class A license. This six-week program combines classroom instruction with hands-on driving across rural roads, city streets, highways, and interstates. Training in manual transmission trucks means you will qualify to drive both manual and automatic vehicles, giving you more job options and a stronger skill set.

Prerequisites
Applicants are responsible for all fees related to required documentation. These costs vary by state and are not included in tuition unless specifically covered by a sponsoring agency. State and federal grants do not cover these expenses. All prerequisite requirements must be completed prior to enrollment.
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Complete the pre-qualification survey
  • Upon survey verification, schedule your DOT Physical with Alltest, our preferred provider (fee: $85.00), or another certified medical examiner (fee: unknown)
  • Study and pass the Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) test at the DMV. A photo ID and birth certificate or passport is required to test (fee: $12.00–$50.00)
  • Request and submit an Abstract Driving Record from the DMV along with your DOT Physical (fee $10.00–$20.00)

Getting Started
  1. Complete the pre-qualification survey on our CDL Program Website or scan the QR code. After verification, you will receive a link to complete your admission application.

Enrollment Process
  1. Complete your application and include all necessary documents; applications missing documentation will not be accepted.
  2. Once your application and documents are verified, we will contact you to schedule your drug test.
  3. After receiving your test results, we will contact you with your class start date and email instructions to complete the ELDT-online theory requirement via Carrier’s Edge.
  4. ELDT-Online Theory: The ELDT online theory MUST be completed before your first day of class. Students who do not complete this requirement will be moved to the next available session.

To enroll, call the Continuing Education CDL Department at 563-441-4217. Class size is limited, and enrollment is first-come, first-served. If your preferred start date is full, you will be placed in the next available class.
