Interviewing Skills for Supervisors

This workshop helps supervisors strengthen their hiring practices through more structured and consistent interviews for candidate evaluation. Participants will develop skills in behavioral interviewing, learn techniques for minimizing unconscious bias, and gain strategies for making more data-driven hiring decisions. Additional topics include legally compliant interview practices and purposeful questioning. Supervisors will learn to deliver a positive experience for candidates throughout the interview process.

No prior experience in hiring or interviewing is required.

By the end of the training, supervisors will be better prepared to conduct interviews that are organized, more objective, and aligned with organizational hiring standards and goals. You will:
  • develop interviewing skills to make effective hiring decisions.
  • develop interview questions according to the job description.
  • be better able to avoid subjective errors or unconscious biases.
  • learn to avoid illegal interview questions.
  • ask effective follow-up questions to dig deeper.
  • understand how to use data-driven methods for comparisons of candidates.
  • create a positive candidate experience in the hiring process.
