Part 1 of the Manufacturing Management Certificate prepares new and emerging supervisors with practical leadership, operational, and people-management skills essential to today’s manufacturing environments. Designed exclusively for manufacturing, the program combines expert-led instruction with guided facilitation to help participants immediately apply learning on the plant floor. Graduates gain confidence in leading teams, communicating effectively, using performance data, and navigating HR responsibilities—developing supervisors who lead both people and performance.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Lead manufacturing teams with confidence and credibility, using relationship-based leadership behaviors that foster trust, accountability, and strong performance, without relying solely on positional authority.
  • Create and sustain psychologically safe work environments were employees feel comfortable speaking up, contributing ideas, and addressing risks related to safety, quality, and operations.
  • Adapt leadership approaches to personalities and situations
  • Interpret and apply key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational health, identify trends, and make informed supervisory decisions aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Communicate performance expectations and results clearly, helping employees understand how their work connects to business goals and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Apply active listening skills to improve understanding, reduce miscommunication, resolve concerns constructively, and strengthen employee engagement.
  • Navigate human resources responsibilities confidently, including compliance with employment laws, ethical decision-making, and appropriate responses to challenging employee situations in a manufacturing context.
  • Integrate leadership, communication, performance management, and HR principles to drive operational success while maintaining a safe, productive, respectful, legally compliant workplace.
